French Fashion Shoot

Fashion is not something that exists in dresses only. Fashion is in the sky, in the street, fashion has to do with ideas, the way we live, what is happening.

The Sidewalk

"Homelessness is the condition of people who lack regular legal access to adequate housing."

I was just working on my range for tech when it hit me.. This morning I drove pass a lady who begs on the side of the road, unfortunately i did not have my camera, but she had the whole "idea" of layering. She mite not have worn matching clothes, but her style was better than some people who spend hours a day trying to get it rite.

My heart goes out to all homeless people, but maybe as fashion designers, we can learn a thing or two from them. Here is some photos I found online of homeless people - take a look at what they are wearing. I know definitely that for my next Winter range i will be drawing inspiration from "The Sidewalk".

I know Vivienne Westwood recently had a collection on the runway with this being her inspiration. Personally though, i think we can draw inspiration from fabrics, textures, colours etc but we need to also keep it minimal because it's only suppose to be an inspiration, we don't want to start looking like we actually cant dress.

The image above is pretty awesome for winter and to be honest, his "outfit" kind of match in the sense of colour...

This is a much older version of two homeless guys and they are casually strolling along with their "personal belongings" in a bag hanging from a stick... Imagine an umbrella-type-bag thing for an accessory? Maybe a little futuristic?

Ok, so here's something funny but you're not allowed to laugh at it... I cant decide whether he is homeless or "working from home"? Just thought I'd share this photo cause we need something to smile at every once in a while :)

So that's it.... nothing special, just a thought of my next Winter Collection...

Gossip Girl Season 4!!

Belles du Jour
I just love the look that Blair and Serena portray in this scene of Gossip Girl (Season 4, Episode 1) Serena is wearing a beautiful sparkly cage dress (very Lady Gaga-like) layered on top of a simple, sleek, white dress, and tops it off with a grey boyfriend blazer. She  accesorised with a panama hat and brogues. Blair is wearing an enchanting printed dress (by Moschino), and accesorised her look with a beret and high heels.

Although i prefer Serena I just love the dress that Blair is wearing here (Leighton Meester). Couldn't find a better pictures, but it is slimming, posh and made her look absolutely stunning!! On the other hand, I don't know so much about what Serena (Blake Lively) was wearing, I guess we all have our own taste!

IM A SALES PERSON - IF ITS ON SALE, I HAVE TO HAVE IT!!

In my sewing room I have something of everything. I'm a sales person, if i see something on sale I HAVE TO HAVE IT!!

I bought these buttons a very expensive fabric store, but got them on special anyways. There were about 70 for R20.00!! BARGAIN!!

I love all things about fashion, from the design part to the completed garment. I believe no fashion designer can ever have enough fabrics, cottons, needles, pins or buttons!!

This is how I have decided to store my fabrics. U can basically put them on a bookshelf like books.. Its easy to see them, you can take it out without messing up the other piles. This is by far the best way I find after trying everything from rolling up the fabric to folding it.. You can also colour code the fabric or store it according to textures, prints, fabric type etc..

This is any designer's dream. Its a sewing/embroidery machine.. It sews like a dream... would not exchange it for anything else :)

Last but not least, a mannequin is definitely useful and makes fittings just so much better.
